Written by Todd Harrison
Monday, 08 February 2010
Dambisa MoyoThe Canadian Association of Black Lawyers and the Law Society of Upper Canada present a special reception on Wednesday (February 10) featuring author and economist Dambisa Moyo.

One of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people of 2009, Moyo authored the bestselling book Dead Aid: Why Aid is Not Working and How There is a Better Way for Africa. In her book, Moyo argues that the government aid sent to Africa is not filtering through to the people who most need it; instead, it is funding corrupt regimes.

A panel of lawyers and scholars will debate the aid issue, and discuss how Africa has altered strategies in development, law and commerce, in a forum prior to the reception.

The forum starts at 4pm and the reception begins at 6pm. Both take place at the Law Society (130 Queen St. West), and are free. To attend, register by end-of-day today by calling 416-947-3413, or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
